Before the horribly daunting idea of midterms crept upon us, Caroline, Heather, and I took a day off, something that is an absurd rarity around here. Regardless, we were determined to have a day of SUP (stand-up paddle boarding). After a few hick-ups including a missed bus, lack of cell service, and a giant hill on a hot day, we made our way to the beach of Mourne Rouge. We rented the boards for $50 EC from the Plywood Bar and took out to sea. The day was absolutely beautiful and if my word is not enough for you, here are a few pictures.
Luckily, we happened to pick the day of the lunar eclipse as our “cheat day. ” The photos do no justice for just how beautiful the blood-moon looked or how amazing it was to sit on a cliff above the ocean with dozens of students who had the same idea as us as we watched our own shadow cover the face of the man on the moon.
Needless to say, our day of rest was not only much needed, but also a lot more eventful than watching Netflix with a tub of popcorn. Experiencing the small, simple joys of my new home never seems to bore me.
